I am Khadija Qidwai I am an audit manager in financial audit for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and I have been here for seven years.
What attracted me to the NAO?
What attracted me to the NAO was that we get to work within government and get to see how it works. I’ve always been interested in that since I studied government politics at A Level, plus I got to do a professional qualification and get the work experience at the same time, it was a great opportunity.
How has the NAO met my expectations career wise?
The NAO has exceeded my expectations. I’ve had the opportunity to work on museums and galleries and international audits, and with the international audits I’ve been able to travel to places like Nigeria and Cuba and see organisations like the Pan American Health Organization working to save children’s lives and that has been really rewarding.
What is the most interesting project I have worked on?
The most interesting projects I’ve been working on recently are museums and galleries. I currently audit the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Imperial War Museum and places like the National Maritime Museum, which are all really interesting places and you get to find out about collections that you didn’t know existed and stores that you didn’t know existed, and meet people that are really passionate about what they do every day, preserving national collections which has been really good.
