Recruitment process

What happens next?

After you apply
Once we receive your application form, we will aim to contact you within 4 weeks and tell you if you are to be invited to a preliminary interview. Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we receive, we cannot provide feedback on applications that are not put through to the next stage.

The selection process
If your details look promising, you'll be invited to an interview, during which you'll complete a test of mathematical competence. To get a feel of the questions you will face click here for some examples. The final selection will be at the London Head Office, where you'll take part in assessed group exercises.

Group selection
At group selection, groups of up to eight candidates are assessed. We ask you to work on a case study exercise on your own, and then take part in a group exercise with the other candidates. Next you'll have a presentation from our training provider who will describe our professional accountancy training programme. This will be followed by lunch, when you'll be joined by some of our current trainees and others who have qualified recently.

Afterwards, you will be asked to give a pre-prepared presentation on a topical subject and there will be a final interview with one of our senior managers.

Within seven days of group selection, you'll usually know our decision. You may be offered a trainee position or you may be rejected. Alternatively you may be put on our reserve list - this means you've met our general standard but will have to wait until all our group selection days have taken place before we reach a final decision.
